MEDIA RELEASE
MIGRANT RESOURCE CENTRE CALLS FOR APPLICATION FOR HARMONY AMBASSADORS
Mr Ebenezer Banful, the Chair of the Board of the Migrant Resource Centre of Canberra and Queanbeyan Inc, today called for applications from 15-19 year old persons resident in the Canberra and Queanbeyan Region from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds for appointment as Harmony Ambassadors.
The Harmony Ambassadors will represent a diverse cross section of the multicultural community on a 10 day tour of SE NSW in February 2005. "The 15 selected Harmony Ambassadors will promote community understanding and cross cultural understanding", Mr Banful said.
The timing of the project also fits in well with the launch of the National Multicultural Festival and culminates in a function in Government House, Mr Banful said.
Mr Banful expressed his appreciation for the support the MRC has received from various organisations and agencies including the Chief Minister's Office of Multicultural Affairs.
This project is proudly supported by the Australian Government's Living in Harmony initiative, which aims to promote community harmony. For more information, visit www.immi.gov.au/harmony
