The Conference announced to Catalonian citizens

“The volunteering is part of all cultures of the world” quoted Liz Burns, president of the IAVE, in the launch event of the 18ª IAVE World Volunteer Conference which was held on April 15th at the University of Barcelona.

The international voluntary movement will proof, between August 17th to 21st, its contribution to peace, sustainability and contact between cultures.

The graphic image of the Conference, which was to the assistants, was created by a group of volunteers of the Fine Arts Faculty at the University of Barcelona. Burns also emphasized that UN has recognized the esencial role of the volunteers to obtain the objectives developed by the Millennium Declaration.

Hot issues in the debates

The Conference delegates will exchange points of view on issues like impact evaluation of the voluntary task in the society, the importance of the coordination amongst organisations or the new social forms of involvement, as the sportive or environmental volunteering.

In several sessions and workshops issues like caring elder people will be undertaken, since, in the large cities, is a very urgent problem needing the incorporation of numerous volunteers

Meet the volunteers !!!

The Conference web site will include a new section where all volunteer tasks during the preparation and the development of the encounter will be shared. Besides, the page will collect the testimony of one volunteer relating his/her experience and the motivations to participate in this event.
